In a letter dated May 25, 2017, Steve Mermell, Pasadena City Manager, invited the public to view and listen to the 4 finalists of the project on June 6 at the Donald R. Wright Auditorium at the Central Library.
Each design team made a 30 minute public presentation of their past public artworks. The 4 teams/individuals selected out of 89 responses were:
- Alice Aycock
- Ned Kahn
- Laura Haddad (with Tom Druggan) and
- Peter Tolkin (with Yunhee Min)
All four finalists are accomplished artists.teams with reputations for completing substantial and significant public artwork. The winner will receive an artwork budget of $745,000 which will include the design, fabrication, installation and any other contingency that may arise. Final selection is set for July by the Arts & Culture Commission. The final design should be completed in late 2017 with project installation tentatively scheduled for mid-2018.
